Our adults classes have been running for a year now, they are gentle and easy going and truly welcome anyone interested in any sort of acting. You’re more than welcome to come and observe and see what you think. We are not aiming for performance but process!
We work together on exercises designed to give us all a sense of connection and freedom both in and out of the acting world. Coffee and lots of laughter are guaranteed.
Spring 2024 sees our very first production, The Calendar Girls by Tim Firth. This true story of the Calendar Girls launched a global phenomenon, a million copycat calendars, a record breaking movie, stage play, and musical written by Tim Firth and Gary Barlow. The story revolves around a group of ordinary women in a small Yorkshire Women’s Institute who do an extraordinary thing after the death of a much-loved husband. Blasting away all preconceptions of what it is to be in a women’s institute, they decide to do an artistic nude calendar to raise money for charity. Upturning preconceptions is a dangerous business and none of them expect the emotional and personal ramifications, but gradually, the making of the fabulous and funny calendar brings each woman unexpectedly into flower. Every performance continues to add to the millions already raised for charity, and proves that there is no such thing as an ordinary woman. With even the term “craughing” – the act of crying and laughing at the same time being coined from this show.’ Tickets will go on sale in February 2024.
